For a lot of Americans, the answer is "yes."

Gas prices have been increasing at record rates, and in many parts of the country the price for a gallon of gasoline is close to $4.00.

This means that fewer Americans will travel this Memorial Day weekend. To make matters worse for those who would travel, American Airlines now charges for checked bags in an effort to offset fuel costs.
