One author would say that it definitely is not.
Relationship expert, Robin Jay, has written The Art of The Business Lunch and the book shows that old fashioned networking is still alive and as effective as ever. In the book, Robin shares lessons learned from over 18 years of experience as an advertising account manager.
In this age of web-working, many of us may have allowed our offline networking skills to grow rusty. Never fear, with chapters on "First Meetings: The Business 'Date,'" "Choosing the Perfect Restaurant," and "Knowing When to Stop Talking, Eating, and Selling," The Art of the Business Lunch is here to help us out.
The truth is, if you own your own business and you don't include face-to-face networking in your marketing strategy, then you're probably missing out on some business. There are a lot of times that you may be able to dine with a client or potential client. Knowing how to behave during those times is critical to your success.
Not only does Robin cover the official proper etiquette for business lunches, she also covers such "unofficial" topics as what to order and how to handle the diffiult personality.
In my opinion, this book is destined to be a business classic. It's valuable, not only for the information that it contains, but for the readable style and personal anecdotes that help to make the information accessible. The Art of the Business Lunch is a book that every home business owner should have on their bookshelf to read and refer to often.
