The greatest successes often involve change, risk, and taking chances.
I believe that is what is going on with Wendy Piersall's web presence, which began as the blog eMoms At Home and morphed into a blog network last summer.
Today, the eMoms At Home took one more step towards becoming even more successful (and more inclusive) by evolving into the Sparkplugging network - a full-fledged blogging network with a business channel and a lifestyle channel.
It was risky move on Wendy's part because, in making the move to a new domain, she lost some of the name recognition and all of the Google page rank that was associated with the old name and URL.
I took a quick look at the new blog network, and here is what I found.
Our old favorite blogs, such as Freelance Parent, are still there. It looks like there will be some new favorites as well. I see that Wendy is planning to add blogs on many topics including: business coaching, eCommerce, and green living (to name just a few).
It's not as though Wendy had kept this new network a secret. She announced her plans (although not specifically) some time ago in this post, where she describes some of the problems of being part of a site that contains the word "mom."
(Having a site with the word "mom" in its name is a problem that I can empathize with, by the way. Although, I'll be taking different steps to make this blog more inclusive of non-moms.)
Personally, I think Wendy's bold move will pay off and I'm excited for her. I look forward to seeing what the new network has to offer.
What about you? Have you visited Sparkplugging yet? What do you think?
What risks/changes would you take or make in your business?

You are the BEST! Thanks for spreading the word! You are right - it is a huge risk, and one I didn't take lightly. I ensured all of the authors on the network were on board before I moved ahead. Thankfully, they supported the idea immediately and are all willing to brave a potential dip in traffic while we grow under our new name.
I also think you are right about it paying off - already the response has been fantastic. Makes me wish I did it long ago!
At the same time, the internet still needs places for WAHMs to go. I'm adding a blog to the network just for WAHMs, and I'm glad you've been an evergreen resource for moms as well. Hope we get to continue to help each other out!
