The article identifies two types of entrepreneurs:
- Growth mavens - These entrepreneurs may start small, but they ultimately wish to build an empire.
- Lifestyle gurus - These entrepreneurs hate the corporate environment and long for flexibility.
- Daredevils - These thrillseekers love to get caught up in the latest and greatest home business trend.
- Hobbyist - This home-based worker runs their business on a part-time basis, either to supplement another income or as a way to stay busy.
I think the contrast between the various types of entrepreneurs is highlighted by the discussion that is going on in the comments of this post by James Chartrand at Men with Pens, Is Charging More the Right Thing To Do?
The discussion at the Men with Pens post seems to center around whether you should charge high rates because you can, or whether you should charge a lower rate that allows you to get by.
If I had to guess, I would say that the different entrepreneurial types is the real reason for the differing opinions on this topic at the Men with Pens blog.
Did you guess what type of entrepreneur I am?
That's right, I basically fall into the lifestyle guru category.
What type of entrepreneur are you?

You know I think right now I fall somewhere between the lifestyle guru and hobbyist. I was miserable in the corporate world because it was constant pushes and lulls and all high stress. I love being home with my daughter, but I also need to keep busy for my sanity and bring in a little money to help keep us afloat.
I have a bunch of part time gigs between cleaning houses, blogging, writing fiction, and my direct sales business.
