If you have daughters, as I do, then you probably want them to know that women have achieved amazing things. For example, did you know that women helped to found important social institutions such as the National Council of Negro Women, the American Red Cross, and the Salvation Army? It's important for us to study past achievements - not only because they can serve as encouragement for the future, but also for what we can learn from them. The successes and achievements of today's work-at-home moms (WAHMs) are based on the successes and achievements of women in the past.If you home school, then you may wish to develop some lesson plans about the role that women have played in U.S. History.
