To help you get ready for income tax time this year I've decided to put together some tax resources for you (and for me).
Remember, however, that the information in this blog should not be considered specific legal or tax advice. In fact, the opinions expressed in the posts below are those of the original poster, and not necessarily the opinions of Work From Home Momma. Always check with your own accountant regarding specific questions about your particular tax situation.
With that said, here's a collection of some of the best work-from-home tax advice from around the Internet:
- From About.Com, Taxes and Freelancing - One of the challenges of working from home is that you have to fill out a little bit more paperwork. If you are an individual proprietor or a 1099 independent contractor, you will need to fill out a Schedule C. This post is a fairly complete guide of what you will need to do.
- From Bootstrapper, 50 Tools and Resources for Freelancers During Tax Season - If you're self-employed and have questions about your income tax, then you'll want to look here.
- From June Walker, 10 Tax-saving Tips for Writers - A tax specialist provides here advice to self-employed writers.
- From TaxGirl, Blogger Tax Deductions and Tips - Specific tax tips for bloggers from b5media's TaxGirl.
- From TurboTax, Tax Tips for Freelancers, Contractors, and Consultants - The makers of popular tax software program are sponsoring this helpful article from Kiplinger.
- From TaxACT, J.K. Lasser Daily Tax Tips - This tax software program sponsors one tax tip a day.
- From the IRS, Small Business and Self-Employed One-Stop Resource - Let's not overlook advice from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). After all, they have the final word.
How about you? Have you started your income tax process yet?
