I'm not going to be there. In fact, I couldn't go even if I were near Las Vegas. According to the Wikipedia this is a tradeshow that is not open to the general public.
It's significant, however, because it is where the electronics industry introduces new products. The office equipment and electronic tools that we buy for the next 12 months will be determined by this particular show. It's where we'll get the tools that we use.
I saw a news report about the show last night and was impressed with what I saw. Apparently portability and multifunctional devices will continue to be the trend. Based on what I'm seeing, I predict that the "home" office will become the "anywhere" office in the near future.
You can view CNNMoney.com's preview of new electronic gadgets.
My own dream device, however, doesn't seem to be in the show. As a writer I'd like to see a device that I could talk into and it would accurately type the words on the screen regardless of the voice or accent of the speaker. My device, of course, would use accurate spelling and perfect grammar. Best of all, there'd be no more worries about carpal tunnel syndrome. (Well, actually I don't have carpal tunnel syndrome - but I know several writers who do.)
It may be some time before a really good voice recognition tool is available. In the meantime, it will be interesting to see what comes out of Las Vegas.
What about you? Do you have a dream device that you'd like to see developed?

Right now I'm just wishing that Kindle gets upgraded into a colored version and with mobile phone functionality. :-)
