I'm too young to remember it, but I appreciate and am inspired by what Martin Luther King Jr. did. As a leader in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s he saw a wrong and took measures to fix it. His willingness to stand up for what is right literally changed the world. The world is a better place today because of what he did.
What does all this mean for the home business owner?
Well, first of all, be aware that many businesses are closed today. You may have difficulty reaching people in their offices. Also, today is a postal holiday in the U.S. There will be no mail going in or out. Banks are also closed.
Secondly, if you home school, consider assigning your student a report on the life of Martin Luther King Jr. History.com has a great article on the history of Martin Luther King Day to get you started. Here is some additional information from Wikipedia.
Finally, and more importantly, the home business owner can learn from the example that Dr. King set:
- Follow your conscience
- Stand up for what you know is right
- Look for opportunities to make a difference
What about you? How can you make a difference?
