This post highlights some of the most popular posts of the past few weeks and also some of your comments.
Making Money Online
The post Making Money Online - Is it Easy or Hard? sparked lots of discussion. Here are some of the comments about this post:
- Dana of Principled Discovery said:
"I agree...I make about $50-100 a month blogging. In a way, I consider it passive, because it is for stuff I'd be doing anyway. If I were to put it in terms of dollar per hour, I'd be far better off at McDonald's. In fact, I joked to a friend that 'I can totally make half what a waitress makes before tips' when she asked about ads on her blog.
That isn't to say it can't be done. I don't have the time or interest in doing what it takes to really break beyond the income level I am at, but I think people who are need to realize the reality of the work involved."
- Denise of Freelancing Journey added this comment:
"You hit the nail on the head on every point! Traffic building too is one of the main jobs and that takes a lot of time and effort."
- Pickel of My Two Boys joined the discussion:
"You did get it right...you know how much time and energy I put into the Lead Free Toys information? Gosh!
I don't like online stores but I think marketing to the right public is key. People want to know about products and if you can give them the right information you can make money.
IE: the right niche can work. Some people try to fake it and it just does not fly."
Christmas Sales
Another post that generated comments was on After Christmas Sales. Mary Emma Allen of HomeBizNotes said,
"It sounds like the home business owner must consider developing gift cards, if they don't have them already."
Social Media Secrets
One of the most popular posts of the last few weeks was my take on Social Media Secrets. Here's how you commented on social media:
- Calvin Warr of Online Marketing Should be Fun had this to say:
"Wow! That is a really good run down on the different approaches. Every way seems to be the right way, and every way the wrong way. In the end, you are right, we should adopt some kind of combination, but I would guess not all 5 of them!
- Mihaela Lica of Online Public Relations added:
"There is a specific approach for each industry - the art is to identify it. This entry identifies the main techniques, yet there are many combinations possible. I am pro "balanced approach" - probably because I seek balance."
New Year's Resolutions
Finally, I shared my approach to New Years Resolutions and Nancy of Visualize For Success shared her resolution too:
"Hi, my name is Nancy from Malaysia. I am not a working mom. I have 2 children and hope to work from home in the near future.
Yes, my New Years resolution is also to at least blog every day."
A special thank-you goes out to all of my commentators. If you are a WAHM or have a home business and feel free to share your ideas. We love comments here!
