This is the post that I wish had existed a year ago when I started to become active on social networks. 

Social Media has become almost an Internet cliche. It's often one of the first things that small business owners who are considering marketing their business online hear about.

"So, you're taking your business online - you'll want to get up to speed on social media." At least, this is a common piece of advice that home business owners hear. 

The truth is, to a small business owner, social media and social networking can be daunting. The sheer volume of social media out there is overwhelming. What are some of the social media secrets, and how can your home business take advantage of them?

A lot of stores are counting on after Christmas sales to boost what was, for many, a weak retail season. One wildcard factor for this holiday season is the fact that more consumers than ever gave giftcards this holiday season.

What does all of this mean for you, the home business owner? 

What's the worst customer service problem that you can imagine? What if a customer had to wait so long for an item that they actually passed away before ever receiving it?

If you type the words "make money online" into a search engine, literally thousands of links will pop up. Many of those links are to scams or articles with bad advice.

Can money be made online? Is it easy? Can you make a living from your online activities? Can you do it without doing any work?

The short answer to these questions is: yes, no, yes, no. For the longer answer, keep reading. 

A 24-year old at an advertising agency has spent nearly three days in an inflatable snow globe. 

In a few hours the Mitchell Report, a report on the use of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs in Major League Baseball, will be released. Rumor has it that the report will include the names of some very prominent Major League baseball players.

As a mom whose kids have attended baseball games, the thought of Major League players using steroids maks me sick. Mitchell Report, or no Mitchell Report, using drugs to get ahead is wrong.

One company has decided to make safe toys its mission. HealthyToys.org has created a Consumer Action Guide to Toxic Chemicals in Toys. Through a simple test, the organization can determine what chemicals are in a toy, and they're making those results public.
