Photography may just be the work-at-home job for you. You can earn money by scheduling photo shoots that you do from your home studio or on site. You can also sell images to stock photo services to earn money.
The Rat Rebellion has an excellent profile on the income prospects for home-based photographers.
If you want to earn money by selling your photographs you will need one, or more, high quality cameras. You may also need studio space with special lighting, additional lenses, and flash equipment for your camera.
A number of online stock photo sites allow you to upload and sell your images. Some sites charge you to set up an online store for your photos. Other sites will provide an online storefront for free, but you must earn a minimum amount before you can be paid. Usually you are not paid unless someone actually downloads one of your photos.
You can also use your images to create product to sell at sites like CafePress. Remember to read the terms and agreements at any site where you sign up very carefully.
It's important to remember that if you are selling photographs of individuals, you must obtain a model release before you can sell the photo.
I can't close this post without directing you to one of the best blogs I've found on making money with your photography: Photopreneur.com.
