TechCrunch has already favorably reviewed the private beta version of Hulu. The WIRED Blog Network was not quite so impressed. What the public will think remains to be seen.
At this point, I have to confess that I'm not much of a YouTube fan and I probably won't become a Hulu fan either. However, the news story did get me thinking about competition and what we should do to face it.
As I see it competition can become a catalyst to help us turn our home businesses into something much better. Here are six questions to ask yourself when faced with competition.
- What is my business currently doing right? How can it be improved?
- What is my relationship with my customers? How can it be made stronger?
- What is my competitor doing that I am not doing? Is this difference good, or bad, for my business?
- What can my business offer that my competitor cannot offer?
- What areas of my business need to be strengthened or built up?
- Are there any addition products or services that I should be offering my customers?
What about you? How do you face competition in your business?
