Today I'd like to focus on some great comments that readers left. If you missed any of the following comments or posts, you may want to go back and discover them:
Bartering
On the Bartering and the Small Business post I was pleased to hear from several home business owners who already have experience with bartering.
- Suzanne Wells of the eBay selling coach blog shared the following:
"I ABSOLUTELY barter when ever possible! Here are some trades I have made:
I sell on eBay, mostly clothes. I barter with my dry cleaner - she gives me free cleaning, I trade clothes.
I barter clothes for babysitting - teenagers LOVE clothes and will work for them.
I barter advertising for design services. I have an eBay blog and trade ad space for graphic design work.
I have traded eBay consulting services for products. Last year, I bartered eBay consulting services for a company who wanted an escort to the eBay live convention, and got a free trip out of it.
I have also bartered ad space for help in writing a press release.
Once you get a busy blog with lots of traffic, you can leverage that ad space for all kinds of things! Get creative girls!" - Lillie Amman of A Writer's Words, An Editor's Eye left this advice:
"I started bartering at least 20 years ago in my interior landscape business, and I have continued to barter throughout the eleven years I have been a freelance writer.
I seldom make direct trades because it isn't often that a client and I need something of equal value from each other. I wrote about bartering through trade exchanges in a post: Connecting - Part III: Trade Exchanges
I report barter income just as if it were cash and take business deductions for barter expenses when applicable. My CPA, who has won numerous professional awards and honors, is a member of a trade exchange and has done my taxes for many years on trade."
Mind Mapping
On the Mind Mapping or Idea Mapping - The Key to Great Home Business Ideas? several of you left even more information about mind mapping:
- Mark McClure left a link to his helpful YouTube video about mind mapping
- Vic of the Mind Mapping Blog left several helpful links, including a link to a mind-mapping focused search engine!
(Work From Home Momma's note: I haven't quite figured this one out, but it looks interesting!) - Jamie Nast of the idea mapping blog stopped by to leave information about her Idea Mapping lens on Squidoo. Jamie also left a challenge for Work From Home Momma Readers by saying, "I would love to post some maps from some WAHMs and their children!"

1. Marketing is a big stumbling block for many WAHMS...Some of us can produce great ad copy for others but find self-marketing intimidating. How ironic.
2. Does mentioning that you're a WAHM actually hurt your chances for some positions?
3. Should WAHMS present themselves as individuals or organizations: Jane Doe, Freelance Writer versus Stone Wall Writing Services?
