Over at HomeBizBlogger Eve Lester has an excellent post that discusses the importance of being prepared for your home business to grow.
Having experienced moderate, but steady, business growth myself, I know from experience that when you start a home business it's easy to get caught up in the here and now and to forget to plan for the future.
However, HomeBizBlogger's point about growth is well-taken. It's important to think about, and plan for, the future. If you are serious about your business and good at what you are doing, your business should be growing. ![]()
Here are some questions about growth that home business owners should ask themselves:
- Am I now, or will I soon, reach a point where I need to hire employees or contractors to help me keep up with the workload?
- Do I now, or will I soon, need help with support services like bookkeeping, billing, tax preparation, or legal advice?
- Can I now, or will I soon be able to, expand the line of services or products that I offer?
- Do I now, or will I soon, need to upgrade or replace any of my business equipment?
- Is my office/workspace adequate?
- Do I need to add a new online presence or expand an existing presence?
- Do I want to invest in advertising expense, and if so, where?
- Do I need to invest in additional training for myself, or for any employees?
What about you? Is your business growing? Are you prepared for growth?
