I don't normally promote giveaways and contests on this blog. I know that you're here to read about working from home and I do the best to bring you relevant information that relates specifically to that topic.
However, not only does this particular giveaway specifically have to do with starting your own business, the prizes are so large and potentially helpful if you're just starting out in your own business that I really feel obligated to make you aware of this contest.
There's a long post explaining the whole thing over at the taxgirl blog and you can read the details and prizes there (books, subscriptions, and other goodies). What really caught my eye, however, was the clause in the grand prize that entitles the grand prize winner to $1000 of free business advice.
You do have to do a bit of work for this contest. The rules call each entrant to create an abbreviated business plan that answers specific questions. However, if you're serious about starting your own business you should be developing a business plan anyway.
The contest is "open to new businesses or fledgling businesses which have been in existence for less than one year," which makes me wish that my own home business wasn't already five years old so that I could enter it.
I'm not eligible to enter this, but I'd sure like to see a Work From Home Momma reader win. If the winner does turn out to be you and you heard about it here first, be sure and come back and leave a comment to tell us that you won.
Good luck!

Thanks, Laura, for mentioning the Jump Start Your Business contest at b5media's Home Business Channel. We are looking forward to helping the winners get their businesses started.
