Nike Air Native N7: Meeting an Unmet Need
One strategy to position your product is to look for a current need in the marketplace that isn't being met. If you can be socially responsible while doing so, so much the better for your company.

Nike
(NYSE: NKE) has recently attempted to make such a move by introducing Nike Air Native N7. The shoe is targeted towards Native Americans who, according to studies, apparently have wider and taller feet (which makes it difficult to find shoes that fit).

Not only is the Nike Air Native N7 specifically designed for the feet of Native Americans, Nike will be donating profits from the sale of the show towards developing playgrounds on Native American land.

You  can read about Nike's release of the Air Native N7 at BloggingStocks. You can also read about it on the Know More Media network on the following blogs:

What can you, the home business owner, learn from Nike's strategy?

First of all, pay attention to the sales you lose. Did you lose the sale because your product is close, but not quite what the customer needs? If you find a trend of customers that want something close to your product or service, ask yourself: is this something that I could provide?

Secondly, examine the products and services that you currently offer. Consider whether or not there is a way to offer them in a more socially responsible fashion.

What about you? What lessons do you think a small business can learn from Nike's new product line?

This is a strange sort of anti marketing. I need these shoes. I have now spent hours trying to find them. There is no way to contact Nike to enquire about them. I even have an American Native ancestor who may be the reason I need the shoes. I have often wondered if there was some sort of conspiracy to cripple peoples feet, because I don't know any one whose feet are shaped like shoes.

I really hope that Nike makes similar shoes available for the general population. My DD2's feet are exactly like the way these shoes are described. We usually have to spend hours looking for something that fits her.
