The beginning of Fall is also a great time to do some planning for your home business. Here are five questions you should ask:
- Do I sell any seasonal products? If you answered "yes," now is the time to start stocking up, if you haven't already. For example, if you own a home-based catering business and you know that you will sell lots of baked goods during the Holiday season, now is the time to plan for that.
- Do I plan on doing any seasonal promotions? In the United States Fall is filled with holidays starting with Halloween and going through Thanksgiving. These holidays can be an excellent time to use seasonal promotions, such as "5% off of all products ordered from now until Thanksgiving."
- Will you, or your staff, be taking extra time off during the Fall or Winter seasons? Many people take time off from work to be with family during Thanksgiving. Don't get caught off guard. Plan now for any staff shortages that may occur towards the end of the year.
- Are any of your business supplies sensitive to changes in temperature? In many parts of the world seasonal changes mean temperature changes and other changes in climate. If you have inventory that could be affected by these changes, make sure that your storage area is secure from the elements.
- How's your business doing? The start of Fall is a great time to take stock of your business. How are you doing against the goals that you set earlier in the year? If your business operates on a calendar year, it's not too late to take corrective action for 2007.
What about you? Will Fall affect your business plans?
