It's no secret that working at home and staying fit can be a real challenge. You have easy access to your refrigerator which can be full of a number of tasty treats. Deadlines may keep you sitting at your computer when you should be exercising. Stress may give you the "munchies."
K. Stone, who blogs at Life Learning Today, has one of the best posts that I've seen on staying healty on lifehack.org. Diet Tips & More for a Healthy and Trim Body is a must-read if you're trying to lose weight or stay healthy.
For the most part the lifehack post focuses on diet, so I wanted to give you some easy exercises you could do at home:
- Jump rope. If you have kids you probably have an old jump rope around the house that isn't being used. Jumping rope is a great form of aerobic exercise.
- Arm and leg lifts. Lay on your side and lift your arms and legs up and down. (My kids call this the scissor exercise.)
- Calisthenics. Yeah, the kind of exercise that we used to have to do in gym class, like jumping jacks and situps. They're still good for you.
- Stretching. Make a point to get up from your chair and stretch your body every hour, or so.
Note: Always consult with a doctor before beginning any diet or exercise program. The above advice does not constitute medical advice.
What about you? What do you do to stay fit? Leave a comment and let me know.
