Noel on the Two Minute Commute blog has posted about how to de-stress if you run a home-based business. Noel has three specific ideas about de-stressing: a foot spa, chats over coffee, and trips to get food.
I thought I'd share some of my own techniques for de-stressing and then throw the topic open to the readers. Here's my list of activities for relaxing:
- Curl up with a good novel. I love to read and for me there's nothing more relaxing than losing myself in a good story. If you're out of things to read at home your local library or bookstore is filled with great reading material.
- Go shopping. As the saying goes: "when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping." Admittedly, shopping for pleasure is more fun for my kids than for me since I pay the bills. However, I know a lot of women whose entire day can be brightened by a new purse or piece of jewelry.
- Find something chocolate. Okay, the sugar rush may be short-lived, but chocolate is definitely a de-stressor for me. An added plus -- now that dark chocolate has proven health benefits you don't even have to feel guilty about eating it.
- Soak in a hot bubble bath. Run the water, add the bubbles, climb in and RELAX. There are a lot of scented bubble bath mixes that you can enjoy. For the ultimate relaxation experience, you can even bring a novel and some chocolate with you.
What about you? How do you relax when you're stressed? Leave a comment and share your ideas.
