
With the recent release of the new Harry Potter movie and the upcoming Harry Potter book release, it seems that Harry Potter is everywhere. That is especially true in the blogosphere. One of my freelance writing friends, Alicia Sparks, devoted a large number of posts to Harry Potter. I could pick any of her post to link to, but I'll randomly pick Will Lord Voldemort Die?![]()

I wanted to take a different look at Harry Potter.
Imagine Harry Potter all grown up and starting his own home business. Harry's magic skills of communicating with snakes, repelling Dementors, wizard dueling, and broom flying would probably not help him much as he went about his job.What type of magic would Harry need to help him succeed? I've come up with a few magic skills that I think Harry (and the rest of us) could use:
- Virtual assistant. Okay we have these already but they are real people who get paid. This virtual assistant would be sort of like the holograms from Star Trek -- intelligent, helpful, able to vanish and reappear.
- Golden words. This is the magic of always knowing what to say and how to say it. Harry would use this magic to sell his business ideas as well as communicate with key clients.
- Idea materializer. Rather than go through all of those boring product development steps, Harry could use this magic to merely think his products into existence.
