Sometimes I bite off more than I can chew. For instance, last night I was up until 12:30 writing uninteresting web copy in order to meet my deadline. The last thing I want is to be seen as some sort of flake, so I feel it’s in my best interests to do everything on or before the appointed date. I don’t ask for extensions very often.
My problem isn’t taking on so much work as much as it’s prioritizing said work. I tend to tackle all of the fun stuff first, and put the boring stuff on hold until I run out of time. Not a very good rule to live by, I know.
Every morning I write a list of what needs to be done. I pick topics for all my blogs and list everything in order to priority. It’s a good system and works when I follow it. The problem is, when I have a boring task I tend to keep putting it at the bottom of the list. Sometimes this goes on for days until I can’t put it off any longer.
Today, June 1st 2007, I’m trying a new method. I’m writing the boring stuff first (not this job Know More Media bosses ). Then I’ll reward myself with something fun. It worked today, let’s see if I can keep it going.
