Just in time for Earth Day…we’re not just working from home, we’re saving the earth! According to this article in the Vail Weekly, telecommuting is one of the Top
Five Things You Can Do to Save the Environment. Well everyone knows I’m green and it has nothing to do with my Irish roots. Employees who work at home don’t pollute the airwaves with carbon monoxide as they telecommute into the office every day. Let’s see if I can add a few more:
- We don’t drink our coffee from paper cups and use plastic stirrers and creamer containers.
- We’re less wasteful with paper and other supplies because we pay for it ourselves. We don’t (usually) buy our lunch from fast food or other take out places. Paper and cardboard wrappers generate more trash and less trees.
- We use less energy than those who work in a big office.
I’m sure I’ll come up with more, and when I do, I’ll post them here. How about you? Can you think of ways telecommuters contribute to the environmental cause? I’m interested in your comments.
