I am constantly casting the net out there in the work-from-home sea and sometimes a nice big fish is brought up on deck and sometimes some icky chum. Depending on how you look at it this could be fish or chum to you.

In my search I send out lots of emails requesting further information on any work-at-home ads I come across. This is the response to one of those emails:

The font color is their own including the improper grammar usage found in the very first sentence and throughout the email, but I digress. 

Do You Have A Creative Imagination?  Are You Dramatic? Love to Act? Do You Like Talking On The Phone?  Being sexy? Open minded? Are You Looking For Work?  Phone Actresses and Gay Male Actors Are Needed NOW!  And The Pay Is Weekly!!!!!

Work for one of the largest entertainment service bureaus as a Phone Actress or Gay Phone Actor.  We have a high volume of calls that we need you to answer in the comfort of your own home.  We offer weekly pay, and the lines are open 24/7, so you can set your own hours. Complete anonymity is assured, and helpful training is provided. No one ever need know what your doing. It is simply a customer service operator working from home.

Are you over 18?  Do you have a regular land based phone line already installed?  With no call blocking? And no call waiting? Are you okay with talking in a sexual matter? ( MOST talk is of sexual nature, But You may also find the customer who just wants to chit chat also .)

Well I don't know about you but when the job description includes a sentence stating, no one need know what your (it's you're not your, gee whiz!) doing, I tend to think I might not WANT to do it.

And for your info they don't hire in Alaska, Hawaii, California or New York. I wonder what laws those states have against this kind of 'legitimate' job. 

So here is how you are paid.

How your talk time average is calculated:

We take the total number of minutes you have actual spoken on a call and divide it by the number of calls you have taken.  That gives us your average you have spoken on each call.

For example

1. Total Minutes: 62.09
2. Total Calls: 7
3. 62.09 divided by 7 = 8.87 Weekly average
4. Did not take 60 calls and had over 5.99 minute average.
Pay Rate: .10 per minute
5. 62.09 minutes times .10 per minute = Total Pay: $6.20



Sample 2

1. Total Minutes: 1235
2. Total Calls: 113
3. 1235 divided by 113 = 10.92 Weekly average
4. Took over 60 calls and had a weekly average of over 9.99
Pay Rate: .40 per minute
5. 1235 minutes times .40 per minute = Total Pay: $494.00

So in this example your talk time average would be a 10 and providing you have taken at least 60 calls or more for the payroll period you would make $24.00 per hour.

If you make less than $25.00 for the payroll period then it will roll over to the following payroll period.

I don't know about you but this next answer from their FAQ clinched it for me:

Q: I got a call and I wasn't sure what to do/didn't

understand what the caller wanted?

A: You are responsible to make sure that you are

trained in as many fetishes/fantasies as

possible so that you are ready for any call. If all

else fails try getting the caller to explain what he

wants you to do.

Where, exactly, do you get such training? Do I really want to know? Nope!

I understand that there are many people out there who might be able to do this job and would like to make good money while doing it. I guess I would rather work shoveling manure first. Actually, sounds about the same doesn't? Shoveling....... you get the picture.

If you are naive about this subject, let me make this very clear: These jobs are considered phone sex operators. Look up phone sex in wikipedia.org if you need to  fully understand what this is.

Although this type of job MIGHT make you more money than another type of work-from-home job you might have a harder time dealing with the secondary issues that come into play. Think very carefully before you decide to try this type of job. That you use your own phone line is scary enough without the thoughts of who you are engaing with on the other end of the phone.
