I posted about a company that was starting a new work from home program exactly a month ago, Sento. In that post it states they were only hiring in two western cities but they might expand later.
I got a follow up email, the first contact so far, today. This is what it said: We are proceeding forward with our Work from Home program. The next step is to complete a typing test. You will be able to access the test at the following web site:
There was a link for the type test site and a contact name and number in case you have questions etc. I didn't include that here since you really should go through the proper channels first.
Good news for you! Since I was the guinea pig you will be glad to know that not only can you practice the test (just open a word document and then practice typing before you actually take the timed test) but you can also retake the test until you are satisfied and then send the results. Even after sending the results it allows you to retake it.
If you are anything like me, and you just might be, you hate typing tests. I can type very fast but put me in a type test and my hands freeze and the words jumble up and I do poorly. I don't know why since I can take a 10-key test without any problems at all and show my true speed.
I only did 60 wpm but I felt that was good enough for today. Maybe I'll try and retake it later to get my score up. I don't know if there is a minimum type speed but I guess I'll find out one way or another.
Good luck on your test!

Hey Marta! I love your blog. In fact, I even tried out one of your suggestions. I applied at Sento last week and I start training on Monday. Wow! (I got 60 WPM on my typing test, so I think you're fine with your score.) I took the 6am - 11am shift with Sunday and Tuesday off. They also had an evening shift of 4pm - 9pm, plus they have full-time work. They pay $9/hour, and after 90 days there is a performance review with a raise for good performance. My specific job will be to answer questions customers have about their eye insurance benefits. Training is for 2 weeks, M-F, 8am - 5pm in Orem at the old Novell campus. I will tell you more about the job after I start. Thanks for the lead!!
