Visa has a contest running for small businesses and this site, BusinessBreakthrough, has offered a few articles about working from home. The trend towards more and more jobs being sent home is growing and is evidenced by the attention the media is giving the subject.
The popularity of home offices is growing with the increase in freelance work, self-employment and the building of virtual work teams. According to this article w
e are talking 14 million home offices with another half million opening annuallly.
The article goes over many points that I have made in my blog posts in the past and just reinforces the idea that working from home is where it is at and the future of virtual offices is just barely beginning to take off.
Another article poses the question, "Do you need two business offices?" The author goes over 7 issues to keep in mind when deciding if you really need an office located outside your home.
This same author writes a second article on this site, "Make a good home office great: 7 ways." If you are going to have an office it might as well be great!
Another article, "Moving your office? 5 tips for staying productive," addresses ways to keep from going insane with your move but also how to make it work for you, whether you are moving your office home or to another business location.
And last but certainly not least, this article "Office mess? 7 tips to get control," is something every work-at-home office occupier should read, yeah and even you work outside the home folks.

So the big question with this one is: how many of the 14M offices are telecommuters vs. actual businesses being run out of the home. 14M is a shockingly large number in my mind...
