You have got to read this opinion piece on Forbes.com. Recently Michael Noer of Forbes.com published a story on two-career relationships. This link will take you to the story and the rebuttal by Elizabeth Corcoran another Forbes author.
His take? Guys: a word of advice. Marry pretty women or ugly ones. Short ones or tall ones. Blondes or brunettes. Just, whatever you do, don't marry a woman with a career.
Why? Because if many social scientists are to be believed, you run a higher risk of having a rocky marriage.
Her take: Girlfriends: a word of advice. Ask your man the following question: When was the last time you learned something useful, either at home or work?
If the last new skill your guy learned was how to tie his shoes in the second grade, dump him. If he can pick up new ideas faster than your puppy, you've got a winner.
Nowhere in either of these pieces does it mention moms, mothers, fathers, dads, or other domestic partners working from home. When someone works from home I am sure they are the ones taking the lion's share of the chores and duties that revolve around the home-no matter the hours they put in or the income they bring 'home'. I want equal press time! Maybe I'll write a letter to the editor!
