I came across this article today, Top 10 Jobs for Working Moms and I thought that some of them are perfect for a working mom who wants to work from home. The article even lists the first choice, writer, as one of the most telecommute-friendly jobs out there.
Here are the choices if you don't read the article with the link above:
- Writer
- Architect
- Retail Salesperson
- Physician
- Computer Software Engineer
- Personal Shopper
- Photographer
- Teacher
- Financial Advisor
- Hairstylist
Of those 10 there at least 5 that lend themselves perfectly to a work from home or home-based job. They are:
- Writer-This is one of the most up and coming work-from-home jobs out there. With so much publishing being done on the Internet there is a wide market of jobs available for those with talent and experience, and sometimes you don't even need that. (of course you might not go very far without either)
- Personal Shopper-Although you will have to do the work outside the home you can be home-based with all paperwork and correspondence being handled there. The work hours, at the very least, might be more flexible depending on store or office hours where errands need to be completed.
- Photographer-You can set up your own studio and dark room in your own home or in an attached building. You can work around your schedule so you can do on location shoots when they suit you.
- Financial Advisor-CPAs, mortgage brokers, tax advisors, and other financial advisors can easily set up a home office. In fact I know at least 2 people in each of these professions that work from home!
- Hairstylist-And you can include nail artists, estheticians, massage therapists, etc. as choices for work-from home jobs. Many start at home to build their clientele or choose to work from home because it is easier and costs less in overhead.
You aren't experienced in any of these professions? You can either get training or see what experience you do have that can translate to a work-from-home career.
