One way to really make a dent in your work-from-home budget is paying for all the things you normally would have for free in the office, for example long distance calls. With so many ways to communicate-cell phone, email, texting, snail mail, fax, and more-there is still no better way than a good old telephone to telephone call right?
Maybe you need to consider VoIP and other new fangled ways to make a business call and save a buck or two while you are at it. One way that our team stays in contact is through Skype. We have used it for IM conference chats, conference calls through our computers and landlines, and even a Skpecast!
One of the newest ways Skype is trying to shrink our world is through free, yes I said free, calling from your computer to any phone, landline or mobile. It is called SkypeOut and this blog post can tell you a bit more: Free Calls to Any Phone with SkypeOut.
This freebie is only available until the end of this year, 2006. After that Skype will decide if this is viable for them to continue with. But for now, try it out and see what you think. I would suggest trying it for non-business calls first so you don't miss or drop any important calls.
Report back and let me know what you think. I am going to try this out myself!
