One of the downfalls to working from home is the isolation that you can let yourself fall into. You are out of the loop on current business trends, customer service techniques, and employee motivation to name just a few subjects. It is up to you to review your business practices and see where improvement might be needed.
If you have customers then you need to keep up to date on what their needs are, their likes and dislikes, and what they think of you, your products, and your customer service. Here are some customer service tips:
- Stay in communication with your customers without hovering. Make random calls asking about what they like and don't like. Ask where improvements can be made or what other services or products they would like to see you offer.
- Offer incentives or thank yous for customers that do share their opinions with you, solicited or not. Do the same anytime they refer a friend to you and your business.
- Read up on customer service tips and advice in business publications such as our blog Customers Are Always.
- Make it a point to get to know your customers by first name and then use it in your transactions with them.
These are just a few of the ways you can make and keep customers. Since you are the only one that can make a difference you need to be proactive about customer service!
