Trials and Tribulations

The whole work-at-home thing might feel like a dream come true but sometimes it can be a nightmare. Today wasn't really a nightmare more like when you are just dropping off to sleep and you do that weird whole-body jump? Yeah, you know what I mean.

Well today was the day that the power company decided they were going to switch out my meter box. Just one little thing. They forgot to tell me! I have two computers running at home-one for me and work and one for the kids. Both were on with programs up and running when all of a sudden the power goes out.

I know, first thing you think about is, "Did I remember to pay the bill?" Scary! Then I look outside to see some man lurking in my yard. "Sorry lady," he says. "We couldn't read your meter and we didn't know what to charge you (he says that like it's a bad thing) and so we are changing out your meter."

One of the worst parts about working from home (and it really isn't that bad) is not having anyone to vent to or share funny stories with etc. That office camaraderie can make you feel like you are part of a team.

So what do you do when you work from home and need someone to talk to? Someone that understands the issues you face?

Try joining a work-from-home forum such as this one, Why Do Work.com. You can find boards, chats, and resources on such subjects as:

  • Support for Stay at Home Moms and Dads
  • Work at Home Telecommuting Job Center
  • Work at Home Opportunities
  • Affiliate Programs
  • Work at Home Scam Reports
  • Work at Home Articles and Resources
  • and more!

You can post your own questions and comments and get a fantastic support group going. And don't forget, you can always email me with your questions, concerns, and gripes. I'll always be here for you...unless the power company says otherwise.

Hi I am blogging from home and a mother of 4 kids(Hal's kids, too) I am blogging about the quilting industry and recently interviewed a nationally known quilt designer who was a stay-at-home-mom... Quilting for the stay at home mom is a great way to stay creative and productive and may be a way to generate a few bucks too. Check out my blog at www.quiltersbuzz.com

Great to know this mom is doing so well....and from home! Let me know if she would be willing to share her story. I would love to interview her for my blog. Keep on quilting!

James thanks for your comments. How long have you been blogging? Best of luck. It takes a while to take off doesn't it?
