Do you have the job or not? Are they calling for an interview or not? Kind of like a weekend without a date--just sitting by the phone waiting for it to ring.
The jobs aren't going to come to you. You are going to have to go to the jobs. Network like crazy. Ask everyone you know and even those you don't know if there are any good work-from-home jobs out there for the taking.
You'd be surprised to find out how many positions there are to be had.
There are some options if you are currently employed outside the home and want to bring your bacon and your job home too!
- Start your own home-based business. Read my other introductory blog entries on MLM and Direct Selling. I will go into more depth on those two topics in future blogs too. With that aside, is there a service or product that you could provide that would fill a need? Get the brain juices flowing on that for a bit.
- Telecommuting (also refered to as teleworking). Try approaching your current employer about part-time work-from-home options. Don't go empty handed. Bring information with you that shows you have done your homework. You need to sell them on the benefit it would be for them, not you. If it works out well you could move to a full-time position and still take advantage of your benefits.
- Freelancing or Consulting. You would be a free-agent and as long as you keep yourself up to date on the changes in your field you can find yourself becoming indispensable and even making more money than when you did the same tasks for one company. Just be aware that you might need to spend time out of the home working in the client's office or traveling from location to location.
Tomorrow we'll go over some key questions to ask yourself before you decide working from home is right for you.
