Ooops! My Bad!

Well since I am doing the application experiment here I am allowed some errors am I not? The better for me to make them and YOU learn from them je suis juste? Let's just say in the interest of science I made a boo boo.

In the West Work From Home Agent application process you are given 5 days to complete the first certification step. I didn't account for the weekend being included. I assumed we would be talking business days here.

So Monday morning was the last day I had to complete the test. It gives only two attempts to complete it. They have the items you need to complete in a kind of check off list with corresponding link buttons. The problem here is that the tutorial or content that you need to read to prepare for this test is the very last one instead of following the pattern as the rest of the check off list.

That means that I clicked on the test instead of the tutorial. Once you engage in the test you can't exit it or you lose that chance. I tried. I tried because I hadn't read the tutorial and was going to miss all the questions anyway. Well, maybe not all the questions since I am a natural born multiple-choice test taker!

I lost the second chance due to a 'severe error' my computer experienced-freezing said computer and test. I then received an email saying the time had expired and my log in to the test area had been suspended. I was then instructed to email them if there had been a computer error or another technical reason I hadn't been able to complete the test. I am now awaiting a reply to that email.

Moral to the story? Allow yourself more than one day to read the tutorial, take the test, and allow for any computer errors. More to come soon.

Marta, I thought you might want to mention this as a resource to your readers. It is the US Chamber of Commerce for Women

Sorry, I meant to write that I mentioned the U.S. Women's Chamber of Commerce on LeaderNotes. The link to the Center is now correct. Sorry.

If you want an awesome work from home company to work for www.willowcsn.com is great. I started with them in September and have not looked back since.

You can find more at home companies by going to www.workplacelikehome.com

That is a great tip! I will look into what these companies have to offer. Let me know what you think of working from home! I would love to hear your story.

Marta

Thanks Hal. I love resources that offer information for working mothers, and working women in general.

Hi,
I just started with West at Home... I am now going thru the training for Pizza Hut.
I have taken calls and my oh my... what a difference there is from working at home and working in a call center. You really have to dicipline yourself. If I can get all of the bugs worked out and convince my husband that this will be a huge benefit, the sky will be my limit. Good luck!
Vicky

Vicky,

Good luck to you too! If your husband wants a testimonial I will be glad to pitch hit! Working from home does take discipline but the rewards are awesome.

Marta

Marta,

I see that your last message was back on December and I was curious to learn what happened. I was just also taking the basic training test and my browser stop responding and was forced to terminate the session. Now I'm waiting for their email in order to continue. Even though I still have one more chance to take it and hope they still give me credit for what happend.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'm under the impression that even when meeting all of their hardware and software requirements you are still bound to run into this kind of glitches.

Ruben,

Great question! I had no communication from West once that second error was made even after a few email attempts to get clarification. Things happen and so if I were you I would cross my fingers and hope for no glitches on your second attempt. I plan to wait out the 6 month period required before reapplying and then see what how I can mess up on my second go round....all in the name of science of course!!

Marta

P.S. It is doubtful that anything was saved and you will be given credit for any test or certification you were in the midst of. You will, on the other hand be given credit for any that were fully completed. Since you are given two chances you don't need to wait for their email to try again. Good Luck! Let me know how it turns out.
