I had my interview with West yesterday morning and this is how it went down.
They called at precisely the time they said they would (good) and the interview consisted of questions about my ability to work without supervision, my customer service skills and experience, my typing skills (required at least 15 WPM), and my ability to work over the phone.
I was also asked to read the 3rd script (see my Into The West post) and agree to a criminal background check. In order to do the background check they needed two pieces of information: my Social Security number and my date of birth. I am always very extremely leery to give out this information but you write it on a bazillion applications when you apply for jobs right?
I was then told I would receive an email with directions on how to fill out the Background Investigation Authorization form, which I have 48 hours to complete and submit. This is what you will be agreeing to besides submitting your maiden and/or any previous names you have been known by:
In conjunction with my registration as an independent contractor, I authorize any contractor, educational institution, law enforcement organization, state federal government agency, or other information service bureau who is contacted to release information regarding my character, performance, qualifications, background, prior work history, work experience, nature, scope of duties and reasons for termination of past employment to requesting contractor or its agent and release all parties involved in providing said information from any responsibility or liability.
By clicking YES, I also authorize the release of my driving history, criminal records, and investigative consumer report and understand that it may contain information about my background, mode of living, character, and personal reputation. A copy of the Consumer Investigative Report may be obtained by contacting: Acxiom (Acxiom Information Security Services), 6111 Oak Tree Boulevard, Independence, OH, 44131.
I acknowledge that a telephone call, facsimile or photographic copy shall be valid as the original. I understand that the decision is solely that of the contractor, and although said decision may be based upon information gathered by a consumer investigative agency, I release consumer investigative agency from any and all liability as related to the contractor's decision.
Such inquires may be made by written communication, telephone, in person, or by other means.
Type your first and last name then click YES: This information is accurate and I authorize the release described above:
Once this has been submitted you are notified that you will receive an email with further instructions on how to complete the certification process. You will have 5 days to complete the certification training. Then you will be given specific certification training for the project that you will be working on. In this case it is a Pizza Hut project.
You are also required to sign a contractor agreement before you can begin working. I didn't ask, although I thought about it once I was off the phone, is if the certification training for said project would be paid training.
Stay tuned as we continue with this interesting and very well organized process. Read more updates on this post, especially the Comments section, as well as this conclusion post.
